DPF Clean Team LimitedHow our cleaning process works

The First Steps

Diagnostics

We always recommend having your garage carry out a diagnostic test to assess accurately the problem with your DPF. In most instances a unit will only become blocked because of a failure elsewhere on the vehicle. This could be as simple as a dirty EGR valve or as serious as a failed injector or turbo. In laymans terms, once the car/van is not running properly any inefficiencies/soot/oil/unburnt fuels etc are trapped by this filter. Once your vehicle indicates a problem the diagnostic can save time and money by giving an explanation to the warning indication and secondary issues.

Diagnostics cost approx. £25.00 plus VAT.

Quotation

Your garage will quote for labour charge for removal and refit of your DPF. DPF Clean Team will quote for the cleaning aspect and any other replacement parts required such as replacement flexi pipe or other parts your garage cannot supply.

Collection

Once the DPF is removed from your vehicle our couriers will collect the DPF. Please note all sensors should be removed. DPF Clean team cannot accept liability for any damage caused to sensors which are not removed from the unit. Collection is included in the price of your clean, its all part of the service!

Arrival at our workshop

Flow Test/Condition Report

Prior to any clean being undertaken we will test the airflow on your DPF and supply you with the reading. In addition to this we use a camerascope to inspect the integrity of the filter and report any damage immediately. If the integrity is compromised we will supply photographs and can offer you a replacement DPF service ensuring any downtime is kept to a minimum.

Cleaning of your DPF

Utilising state-of-the-art Flash Cleaning technology, the environmentally-friendly process delivers as new levels of cleanliness by removing all soot deposits, including PM10 particles, cerium oxide deposits and oil residues from the DPF.

This is why we use flash cleaning technology ...

Description Time Costs Advantages/Disadvantages
Heat Treatment

Cut the DPF and put it into an oven that gradually reaches 1100-1130°F burning the carbon residuals. Then weld the DPF.

8-12 hours

Pneumatic cleaning: 90 minutes
Oven-baking: from 8-48 hours

Machineries: 4

- Backpressure Tester
- Oven
- Compressor
- Aspiration cab

Removal of most of the PM10 deposits

Risk damaging the integrity of the filter because of the cutting and welding

Melting of the cerium with the filter walls due to the high temperature

Risk of thermal shock that can damage the noble metals

Ultrasonics Treatment

Dip the DPF into an ultrasonic tank full of water. The ultrasonics form micro-bubbles inside where the temperature is very high and the pressure reaches 500ATM. The implosion of the bubbles causes the detachment of the particulate matter from all of the filter substrates.

12-24 hours

Ultrasonic cleaning, drying and pneumatic cleaning

Machineries: 3

- Ultrasonic Tank
- Oven
- Compressor

Deep cleaning of the filter cells

Poor efficiency on very dirty filters (oil) and larger filters

Risk of damaging the filter due to the vibrations generated by the ultrasonics and the implosion of the bubbles

High water consumption (need to change it often to eliminate the PM10 cleaning residuals which deposit at the bottom)

Chemical Additives

Put the chemical additives into the vehicle tank together with the fuel in order to melt the burning residuals inside the engine and to eliminate them through the exhaust pipe.

Additive

There is a wide range of additives; prices change according to the manufacturer and to the channels of sale.

Easy and cheap

Ineffective: residuals are not actually eliminated and more are added to those generated by the additive itself, going to block further the particular filter

Flash Cleaner Machine

Put the filter on the worktop of the washing cabin and connect it to the water pipe. Press START: depending on the type and the size of the filter, Flash Cleaner Machine performs the washing of the filter and then dries it with hot air

From 30 minutes (car DPF-FAP) to 120 minutes (truck DPF)

Machineries: 1

Flash Cleaner Machine is a one-of-a-kind machinery that performs all of the cleaning phases (washing and drying) without cutting, oven-baking and welding

Total removal of PM10 residuals

Removal of all oil residuals

Removal of cerium residuals

Efficient cleaning of all of the types of particulate filter and catalyst (cars and heavy goods vehicles, also SCR) of every size

Safety of the filter

Preservation of the noble metals of the DPF

Processing water always clean thanks to an efficient filtration system: no need to change the water but only to add it when it evaporates

Easy, fast and cheap

After your DPF is cleaned we again take a flow test report and both the before and after digital readings will be returned with the DPF for your peace of mind.

Delivery

Your DPF will be returned to you via courier for your garage to re-fit. Again there is no charge for this its included in the price of the clean!

The whole process should take no longer than 48 hours. DPFs can be collected same day if booked before 1pm. DPFs can also be cleaned whilst you wait if brought to our workshops.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please ensure that all sensors are removed prior to sending the DPF to us. DPF Clean Team accept no liability for any damage caused to sensors which are not removed from the unit. Should removal of sensors by our technicians be necessary, a surcharge of £60 + VAT will be added to the invoice.
